For Results Based Conservation Agreements, an agreement is signed with a rancher that identify and describe specific results or desired habitat attributes that the rancher can work towards in their management strategies. Once habitat targets are achieved, the rancher then receives financial incentive. Agreements are non-prescriptive and allows the producer to be the decision maker.
All management decisions must be within producer capabilities. This includes range management, forage production, allowing access, predator control and livestock management. Any decisions on industrial development, road construction and prevention of the spread of disease are outside the capability of the producer.
The results are a higher standard than what the current industry standards are that achieve livestock and forage production objectives. Failure to meet desired results simply means a financial incentive was not reached.
