The primary area of geographical interest is the mixed and shortgrass prairie in southwest Saskatchewan. It is home to the most intact native grasslands in the Northern Great Plains and contains the Milk River Watershed, where 50% of the land base is still native grassland and over 75% of the land base is in perennial cover.
The Saskatchewan Stock Growers Foundation will prioritize grazing lands that align with our objective to ‘conserve our remaining working rangeland landscapes’. These will include land at threat of conversion, critical or key habitats for wildlife and species at risk and lands that provide connectivity between habitats. We will accept all proposals but funding may direct location of projects.
